The “Analogous Islamic City” workshop has two main goals: on one hand, it aims at investigating the theme of dwelling in that cultural and geographical context that goes from the Mediterranean basin to the Middle and Near Easts; on the other hand, it aims to understand the relationships between the construction of the house and the construction of the city. By adopting a design approach, students will first redesign some examples of houses and then they will design an “analogous city”, that is a possible city that expresses the typical characters of the Islamic city
